Healing Power Book - click here to reserve your copyBy  Dr. Tran Ky and Dr. F. Drouard

Dr. Tran Ky, a prolific author with over seventy books to his credit, continues to pursue simultaneously a medical career, spanning over 50 years and an eclectic array of scientific interests.  He graduated from the famous Military Medical School Of Lyon in 1956.

After leaving the French Army as Colonel, he became Professor Of Urology in France until his official retirement.  Dr. F. Drouard, Professor of digestive surgery, Honorary President of the French Society of coelioscoopic surgery, is himself the son of a champagne wine grower and maker and immersed, since conception, so to speak in the subtleties of this Art form.

DESCRIPTION

Champagne, ‘the devine beverage’, has probably been France’s best ambassador ‘extraordinaire’ and it is certainly another facet of the French Paradox.

While books about wine and champagne abound, this particular work by Dr. Tran Ky and Dr. Drouard addresses a somewhat more unusual and specific aspect of the beverage, not as a mood-enhancing tipple, but as remedy, healing potion. "Le Vin Medecin", champagne as doctor. A recurring theme ever since wine was invented and history recorded, but somehow better explored by the French, as befits the living embodiments and proponents of the art of the paradox.

To our knowledge, champagne, the universal symbol of joy and celebration has rarely been linked or associated with drunkenness. A "feminine", soothing drink, as some are fond of qualifying it, always seems to bring out the best in us. This book examines how it can also put the best back in us.

Dr. Tran Ky and Dr. Drouard review the science of this wonderful mechanism, this quasi-alchemic process, whereby the many and multiple beneficial active molecules of a good champagne interact at the most basic cellular level with our affected organs to remedy the ailments which afflict all of us occasionally.

Paradox supreme and highly counter-intuitive, who would have thought that a sip of champagne and its pearly bubbles, cures all windy manifestations: burping, hiccups and flatulence. But there you are! Who knows that a glass of "champers", judiciously timed, will enhance your libido better than any pill while preserving the romance.

The other message and the leitmotif of our good doctors is that the therapeutic effect of champagne only works in moderation. As in homeopathy, the potency of the remedy is inversely correlated to its dilution. Less is more!

Some comments written about this book.

* Many books have been written on the subject of Champagne, including several on the history and traditions of the drink but at least these medical authors offer some new content in covering Biology and Diet.

Not since the publication half a century ago of Wine is the Best Medicine by the late Dr Maury, have I seen anything that quite compares to this enlightening and often witty volume.'The Healing Power of Champagne' is a medium sized hardback edition comprising 19 chapters, 156 pages and 45 illustrations. Despite the many amusing Punch-style cartoons, this is a serious book that has been researched in great detail and which must have been well written in the original French because it has translated well. It would make a perfect gift for a serious wine buff or for anyone who enjoys wine & Health.

** Fortunately I have never lacked reasons, or excuses, to drink champagne – only the wherewithal for the quality and quantity I enjoy sharing with my friends and colleagues.  However, for those less fortunate than myself I have no hesitation whatsoever in wholeheartedly recommending this most excellent book to everyone seeking a more healthy lifestyle.

*** What a book it gives everybody a genuine reason to drink Champagne twenty-four hours a day.  An absolute must for that person who has everything.  A votre sante.
