OLD HARMONY CEMETERY ASSOCIATION, INC.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
JULY 29, 2010

  • All plots are reserved – there are no additional plots available.  Reserved plots must be marked with a small marker buried at ground level on four corners

  • If a family should decide not to use a reserved site, any officer of the cemetery association should be notified immediately

  • Whereas there is neither a sale price nor a cost for burial plots, a donation of $250 is requested per grave opening prior to the grave opening.  This money is used for maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery property. Other donations are gladly accepted, greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.  By use of a burial site, the family accepts all responsibility for loss or damage

  • When a grave is to be opened, at least one or more member(s) of the Cemetery Association Committee must be present before opening of the grave.  All gravediggers must be approved by the Cemetery Association

  • When a grave is being opened or closed, the family of the deceased shall be responsible for all damage to other grave sites, tombstones, or other property

  • The family of the deceased is responsible for removing all excess dirt (to a designated place on the old Rainbow Drive roadbed), leaving it level and suitable for grass planting

  • All flowers on the ground from a funeral must be removed 10-14 days after the funeral and disposed on the back street of the cemetery property in the designated area

  • Dumping or disposing of debris on the old Rainbow Drive roadbed or bank is prohibited. Only excess dirt shall be deposited in this area

  • A vault is required for anyone buried in the cemetery.  There shall be no above ground burials of any kind such as a mausoleum or above ground vault

  • All flower arrangements and decorations must be confined to the vase unit or a saddle on the monument.  No boxes, shells, toys, glassware receptacles, or other items will be permitted on any interment space or elsewhere within the cemetery; such items will be removed by the cemetery without notice.  No articles of any kind shall be placed on the ground.  This interferes with grave digging and maintenance equipment

  • Cemetery committee members shall be entitled to remove old faded or tattered flowers in containers and/or other items on the monument or on the ground after a respectful time

  • Fences or other lot borders (except for corner makers) are strictly prohibited

  • Old Harmony Cemetery Association is not responsible for theft, damage or loss of any personal property including flowers, decorations, personal effects, etc., placed on or near an interment space or elsewhere within the cemetery.  Persons entering the cemetery property are responsible for their own safety and welfare

  • No future trees, shrubs, or plant(s) excluding grass, may be planted except by permission from the cemetery committee.  Such unauthorized items will be removed without notice

  • Vehicle parking on or driving across the grassy areas is prohibited except for necessary maintenance or burial purposes

  • These rules and regulations become effective immediately.  Copies may be obtained from any member of the committee and are also posted on the website: www.oldharmonycemetery.com

  • Graveyard working is always the LAST THURSDAY BEFORE THE FIRST SUNDAY IN AUGUST
